It’s the simplest way to sell a good product: explaining how it will make the customers’ lives better. But how do you do that for an item that affects people and homes in different ways?
We chose to focus on a few key research points—that men, while not the key decision maker, are a key decision influencer, and one of their focuses is sustainability. Not only that, but research showed that when the man of the house (in our typical audience family-norm) is involved, they are twice as likely to even consider a skylight. We wanted to unlock this huge consideration boost.
So we used this video to speak to a truism most families can relate to. Whether it’s a mom or a dad, every family has a parent that is constantly turning off lights behind the kids. (Well, the whole family, if we’re being honest.)
We celebrated this relatable Dad character with a television spot and more, but also created a way to capture audiences’ attention and stretch our dollar. There are actually five different endings to this television ad, plus more for social media executions. [Spoiler alert] So viewers will see something fresh each time a new ending runs, and discover the different ways our Dad is using all the freetime he has from not having to turn off the lights anymore, thanks to VELUX skylights.
This spot aired on HGTV and Discovery Network 2023-2024.
